Built in 1989 and extensively refurbished during the winter of 2003, the modern low rise Hotel Playa Dorada has a total of 466 guest rooms, including 418 twin room, 40 Junior Suites and a further 8 Suites, which are built over 3 floors and set amidst almost 12,000m2 of sub-tropical gardens and sun terraces around a large central pool area overlooking Atlantic Ocean towards the nearby islands of Fuerteventura and Lobos.

All guest rooms at the hotel are either air conditioned or centrally heated according to the season, and come equipped with a modern "en suite" bathroom with shower, cosmetic mirror and hairdryer, along with a direct dial telephone, satellite television, safety deposit box available for rental, mini bar and either a balcony or a terrace, most of which have exterior views over the pool and garden area towards the sea. In addition to the above features, 12 guest rooms at the Hotel Playa Dorada have also been specially adapted for disabled guests, and all rooms are provided with a daily maid service undertaking a change of towels as required and change of bed linen twice a week.

Guest facilities on offer include a 24 hour reception area with currency exchange services, and both luggage and courtesy rooms for late departures, along with an air conditioned buffet style restaurant and snack bar with show cooking, offering a choice of traditional Spanish, international and vegetarian menus, as well as a games room, public internet terminals, laundry and medical services and both lounge and pool bars.

For business guests, the Hotel Playa Dorada also offers the use of a large air conditioned conference and meeting room, seating a maximum of 160 people, which is equipped with a selection of modern audio visual aids including a projection screen, flip charts, TV and video.

Sporting and leisure facilities available to guests includes a choice of 3 large outdoor freshwater swimming pools for adults, along with a further 2 smaller children's splash pools, all of which are surrounded by spacious sun terraces and gardens which are furnished with loungers and parasols. Other leisure facilities include a children's playground and mini club, along with a hard surface tennis court and 9 hole Pitch and Putt course.

Guests staying at the Hotel Playa Dorada also have the opportunity to relax and unwind at the hotels own fitness centre, which features a sauna, steam bath, Jacuzzi, gymnasium, 2 squash courts and a further 25m heated indoor swimming pool.

The Hotel Playa Dorada also provides a seasonal programme of daytime sporting activities, organised each day by their resident animation team, featuring boules, water polo and aerobics, as well as evening entertainment with a children's mini disco which is then followed by either live music, cabaret or other professional shows several times each week.
